Great Article From A Spanish Newspaper in the Wake of the Muslim Cartoon Issue

(*) This is a translation of an article from a Spanish newspaper written by a Catholic Spaniard before the "Danish Cartoon" exercise.

All European life died in Auschwitz
By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez(*)
---------
I walked down the street in Barcelona, and suddenly discovered a terrible truth:

Europe died in Auschwitz. We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims.

In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, and talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.
The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world. These are the people we burned.

And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.

They have turned our beautiful Spanish cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime. Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the government, they plan the murder and destruction of their naive hosts. And thus, in our misery, we have exchanged culture for fanatical hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and superstition.

We have exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and their talent for hoping for a better future for their children, their determined clinging to life because life is holy, for those who pursue death, for people consumed by the desire for death for themselves and others, for our children and theirs.

What a terrible mistake was made by miserable Europe.

*****EDIT**** I believe we may have found the origins of this article.

http://www.gentiuno.com/articulo.asp?articulo=1865

A Comment I Agree With From Planks Constant :

It appears it originated on a Spanish Web Magazine of sorts called Gentiuno. Either way, true or not it still appears to ring true.

As to "fake but accurate"; it is undoubtedly true that almost all the sentiments expressed in this "article" reflect the Muslim reality in Europe. It is too bad that no paper actually published it.

No doubt there will be those who protest the seemingly flagrant racism and I am equally certain that it will come mostly from liberal Jews who need to scratch the political correctness rash of theirs. I would call them fellow Jews but they are no different than Jews that deny the holocaust [yes they exist, Virginia]. They will rant that this is no different than the anti-semitism of the Nazis.

One difference. The Nazis lied when they said Jews wanted to control the world. It is not racist to describe the truth. Perhaps a few months ago one could have posited the notion that it is a blatant, racist lie to say of Muslims that "they plan the murder and destruction of their naïve hosts" and that we have "exchanged culture for fanatical hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and superstition" . But today, after the Danish Cartoon Affair, can anyone deny that this entire article indeed has the ring of truth?

I've thought about that before too.. it's amazing. But the sad thing is, I think that even had Europe been able to see the future, I don't think it would have changed a thing.

It's scary to think that the Jews of Europe, a group of people devoted to culture and study, who wanted nothing more then to live in peace were so hated by the Europeans. The Europeans constently scapegoated them and accused them of false crimes. Now they have a real enemy within. It was interesting to see that some of them recognize the error of their ways. Too little to late if you ask me.

This is simply hate speech. Jews do not need to spread this around with pride, even if it were written by a bigoted Christian, which it may not have been. This kind of thinking does not help Jews because it feeds intolerance. When it exists, Jews are among the first to suffer.

The writer overlooks the history of Spain when in the 8th Century Muslims and Jews had a Golden Age of culture and made advances in medicine and astronomy that the Roman Church would not allow because of its bans on autopsies and doctrine on a geocentric universe. The Christians eventually pushed the Muslims and Infidels out of the Iberian Peniinsula and substituted a Christian fundamentalist reign that immediately brought the Inquisition. Jews and Muslims, both, have been the traditional enemies of the Christian right since the Crusades and the Inquisition.

The message here is that fundamentalism has to be checked, whether it be Muslim, Christian or Jewish because fundies don't think; they react emotionally and often violently or repressively, There is a strong fundamentalist zeitgeist around the world now that has captured governments in both the U.S. and in some Muslim countires and preserves ignorance and poverty. The Christian religious right in the U.S. seeks to pollute science teaching, ban information on contraceptiion and abortion, set back women's equality, and finance military spending over social needs, among other reactionary policies. Until recently the Jewish fundies had a grip on the Israeli government and were determined to keep land for Biblical reasons, fueling tension between Israel and its Arab neighbors. However, the mood now, even among the right-wingers like Sharon's followers is to give back some of the land and disengage with the Palestinians, which will reduce tensions and probably pave the way years from now for economic cooperation the way divorced parents often come to terms.

There are Muslim slums in European countries. It doesn't mean the Muslims are racially inferior. After all, both Arabs and Jews are both Semitic. Arabs gave the world the zero when Christians were still barbarians so we could stop counting on our fingers and eventually develop binary code for computers. There is a parallel with African-American ghettos. Generations of treating a people as inferior, limiting both their education and their economic advancement, causes ignorance, poverty and the resulting resentment to fester regardless of their aptitude. The Bush/Cheney fundie crusade in Iraq has driven Chrstian-Muslim tension so high, there is rioting over cartoons. Hate speech like this which denigates tens of millions of Muslims in Christian European countries just feeds the tension. Reading between the lines, it seems the writer would like to see a second Final Solution for Muslims in Europe. European Christians have to learn from their mistakes, not repeat them.

Kuddos to L Miklowitz on Article From A Spanish Newspaper. It amazes me how many Jews read that article and think "GOOD POINT". The first thing I thought was he is a racist. Like it was a waist of time with the Jews in Auschwitz but these Muslims really deserve it. If Jews fail to recognize or to object to the racial undertones of articles like that we will have failed in learning anything of the dark time during the 30's and 40's.

I am so relieved to read the comments by Anonymous and L Miklowitz above. When I first read the article I was horrified. (Still am.) Not just by the ideas presented in the article, which are at best racist, but by the knowledge that so many people -- particularly my fellow Jews -- would be reading it and nodding their heads in agreement. We have to recognize and denounce racism wherever it is, not just if it is against us.

Simply put there is an enemy, this enemy has made its intent clear. We will kill you "we will fight on saturday then on sunday first the jews then the christians". Many will say a fanatical few, fundamentalists, crazies. Then the silence of the many needs to be explained. You will find out sooner rather than later what that silence is. Is this racist? Perhaps, is this truth? Wait and see.

I agree that racism is bad in any form. However it is even worse to underestimate the enemy nad make no mistake that Muslims are the enemy. They have declared war on the west and will not rest until they destroy everything in their wake. Hitler would often say what he was going to do before he did it. The thing was that his ideas were so radical and crazy that no one believed him. The Islamists are the same. Notice that the Iranian president has promised to wipe Israel off the map and kill all the Jews and infidels. I'm sure L milkowitz doesn't believe him either. I think that many if us are idealistic and naieve.

Looks to me like L Miklowitz is possibly the only balanced opinion here. I'ts amaizing how a chip on your shoulder can throw you off balance when looking at world events.

Observation on your post KevinE.

You say you agree that racism is bad in any form - then without drawing much of a breath launch into attacking Muslims declaring all of them as enemies.

I think you might be a little confused my friend.

Shalom.

I didn't declare Muslims as enemies. The religion of Islam has declared the JEWS as their enemy. I am simply acknowledging that fact. If you disagree then I emplore you to go to a mosque and listen to the sermon. It is a religious edict to Muslims that Jews are their enemy. It is as plain and true as the Jewish edict not to eat on Yom Kippur.

Those idealists who want to believe that this is untrue and that loonies like me must be exaggerating the truth are simply uninformed. This doesn't mean that every muslim person wants to kill jews any more then being Jewish means that every Jew will keep Shabbos. It is simply their religious doctrine. Racism has nothing to do with it.

Thank G-d for some sense from Mr. Miklowitz ! [who deems it necessary to hide his identity]

Kevin, shame on you for being seduced by such obsequious deceit.

At 1:42 PM, KevinE said...

Wolfie, you should read my previous post. Recognizing the threat is nothing to be ashamed of. The Jews of Poland and Germany also didn't recognize the threat and that cost them big time. Your hero Neville Chamberlain also didn't recognize the threat. Such people are dangerous. I'm just pointing out the painfull truth.

At 2:42 PM, Wolfie said...

Kev, Chamberlain was no hero of mine. My Father was; he recognised the Nazi threat for what it was and joined the forces before the war started so that he would be ready to fight evil. He was highly decorated for his bravery, lost most of his friends in war and was haunted by nightmares of what he had seen and had to do until his dying day. He died before his time because of injuries and toxins he had accumulated in war and left me at 26 to provide for my Mother and younger sister. I hope you will never never again suggest that I or the country I live in has "not done enough".

My point is this...

My Father used to tell me, "Be suspicious of anyone who you don't know who overtly flatters you because they are selling something and the chances are that whatever it is profits them and not you." I hope your Father gave you similar advice in life?

The author or the piece is sucking-up big time and that should make you suspicious. So what is he selling?

Well he puts two facts together; true they may possibly be (but exaggerated) but they happened decades apart and really have no connection.

What he is selling is sweeping racial generalizations, racism and notions of racial supremacy. It makes me shudder because it sounds so much like Nazi propaganda.

Uncontrolled immigration and religious extremism are serious problems but resorting to this sort of logic is not the path to a solution; just more hate.

I've seen this article before and I agree with you. It's not about racism, it's about recognizing an obvious threat. Europe systematically slaughtered most its Jews because it thought we were the cause of their problems, and in the process, did away with loyal citizens who made an infinite number of contributions to society. We've been replaced a group of people who commit acts of terrorism against their host countries and, until recently, Europe has kept its head in the sand, acting like there's nothing at all wrong with its Muslim population. The author of that article is just trying to point that out. Shalom.

Wolfie,

I never suggested that your country didn't do enough. You were a bit late in reacting but then the US was shamefully late in recognizing the threat. I think the resolve of your countrmen in WW2 literally saved this world from completely falling to the Nazis. I use the Chamberlain reference to point to other occasions where a threat was underestimated and the result was disasterous. I see similarities between that and the current Islamofacist threat.

Yiddishe-Kop,

I agree completely. Its not about racism. Also I think the article writer was being poetic with his generalizations. I don't think it was intended literally.

I very much agree with L-Miklowitz.
Right on! As Jews, we should remember that there are only two major religious groups in the world today that believe in G-d's Unity- the Jews and the Muslims. So whatever we think of the state of Islam today, in view of the Islamists, "Islamofascism", etc. which is to be deplored, in their essential core, the Muslims agree with us. In the old days, the rabbis of the Middle East used to say "there is no monotheism like the monotheism of Islam". When our political disagreements cease, we shall again join together with the Muslims to promote pure monotheism.

The charge that this essay sounds like Nazi-speak is frightening to me. If one simply listens to numerous Hitler-esque pronouncements emanating from Islamic extremist leaders (who also qualify as social and political leaders), and thus hears the call to action against Christians and Jews alike, and then compares THAT to the passive observations of the commentator quoted above, in which no ACTION whatsover is sanctioned .....

Will we NEVER learn? Are we incapable of reacting to threats before we are slaughtered and/or subjugated? If we do not see the similarity between the current leader of Iran, for example, and HItler --- we have a fatal blind spot.

So why trust that this was written in a newspaper if the newspaper and date are not named?

Mourning those who were killed is very different from the hate espoused for those who live. It was not an exchange of lives. I

f you imagine this article was written in the 1930's and substitute "Jews" for "Muslims", all that can be seen is blind hatred which is never good.

What everyone seems to overlook in the rush to condemn the nazis for their persecution of the jews, is that if it were not for Hitler's anti-semitism, he would have won the war.

Consider alone, the scientists that helped us develop the atom bomb. They would have been happy to produce the same results for a fatherland that held them lovingly by the hand. Thankfully, they were expelled prior to the stepping up of the "final solution".

Then you have all of the man power that was bypassed... 6 million dead, 10 million interned surely could have translated to 5 million, or more, conscripts.

Next you have the able-bodied personell guarding those in the camps & carrying out the exterminations. These were often the creme-de-la-creme of the German military machine.

Lastly, think about all of the resources & rail services that Hitler dedicated to moving Europe's Jews from place to place & camp to camp. Think how different the outcome would have been if his generals had those resources available to them along with the ability to transport them when & where they needed.

We should thank our lucky stars that he was such a vehement anti-semite & that he surrounded himself with advisors & cohorts of the same mindset.

L Miklowitz, the Catholic Church does not have, nor have they ever had, a Doctrine of faith concerning the state of the universe or the solar system. It is a myth that geocentrism was a Church doctrine.

Don't forget, Galileo was wrong as well, since he believed in a heliocentric universe. Obviously, the sun is NOT the center of the universe.
